The Father’s Heart

the father's heart 4

Once upon a time – there was man who had been given the gift of a most precious son. The boy was very blessed and intelligent and had a most creative mind. He was highly favored by God, an ideal son, and very obedient in every way. God had favored this young man with many special gifts and he was set apart for God’s purposes. The young man was taught to follow his Heavenly Father and His ways and was always choosing paths that would be pleasing to his earthly father as well as his Heavenly Father.

One day, the son began to be drawn away and enticed by the world around him. The enemy of his soul began to whisper lies into his mind and his heart began to change. It was a slow fade, but over time he became a completely different person. The enemy of his soul began to steal him, kill him, and destroy him right before his father’s eyes.

The boy moved far away from his father and began to live at a distance and he became someone that his loving father didn’t even recognize. The father was distraught and completely heart broken for his son. He was overwhelmed with sadness and concern, but he continued to reach out to his son and show him love. The father never turned his back on his son and he began to pray night and day for him and to go to war with this enemy of his son’s soul.

One dark night in the early morning hours, the phone rang. The son was in danger and crying out for help. He was in a far far away place – many miles and many hours from home. The son was fearful and began to cry out for help because the enemy of his soul was seeking to destroy him and hold him in bondage. Just like always, his father was ready to catch him when he fell and to come to his rescue no matter what. So the father went to battle with the enemy and left his home in the middle of the night and set out on a rescue mission to rescue his son. His nonstop journey took him through 5 states and over 1600 miles, but it was worth every effort to save his son. Even though it was very difficult and exhausting, it was all for love. This never ending love that the father had for his child was the driving force, because the father was willing to lay his own life down.

Our Heavenly Father is faithful and hears our prayers. That is why this earthly father continues to pray for his son. The full deliverance chapter of this story has yet to be written and the son is still choosing to live far away from his Heavenly Father. But, his earthly father continues to intercede for him night and day and to cling to God’s promises. He stands in the gap for his son and knows that the heart of the Heavenly Father is full of relentless love for the prodigal.

“The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The LORD is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made.” ~ Psalm 145:8-9

This story of this earthly father and his lost son is a picture of the Heavenly Father’s heart. Our Heavenly Father will stop at nothing to rescue His lost child and no distance is too far and nothing is too impossible. He laid down His own life all for the sake of love and He is ever interceding for His child. We have a good good Father that never slumbers or sleeps and He is faithfully watching for the prodigal to return home.

“But while he was still a long way off, his Father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; He ran to His son, threw His arms around him and kissed him…Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. So they began to celebrate.” ~ Luke 15

This is the LOVE of the Father’s Heart!

A Father’s heart that’s for me

A never ending story

Of love that’s always chasing me

His kindness overwhelming

And hope for me unending

He’s never given up on me”

If you know of a prodigal son or daughter and you are waiting for their return – please be encouraged and know that your Heavenly Father is interceding for this child. He is calling you to join the battle with Him and to be persistent in the place of prayer for the heart of your son or daughter. We serve a miracle-working God!

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” ~ 3 John 4

If you are a prodigal son or daughter that once lived close to the Father but have now chosen to live at a distance – please remember how great His love is for you. His mercy endures forever and He wants you near Him. He is watching and waiting for your return.

His love is relentless and He wants to rescue you because He delights in you!

Do you need FAITH? ~ I’ve Got A Testimony

I know that so many of us have prayer concerns and desperate situations that we need God to break in on. He alone is the One that does the impossible! I love the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18: 1-8. In verses 7-8 it says:

And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly…”

“Justice” – To make the wrong things right, or I like to think about it as — To take back what the enemy has stolen. This past Tuesday night at the House of Prayer we prayed for Salvation, Unity, and Revival – and my testimony is WOW! During the time of worship and prayer and even after – I came away with my FAITH soaring and believing that God is so good and that He can do what no one else can do!

faith

The rest of verse 8 says:  “However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find FAITH on the earth?”

Do you need a FAITH builder? Are you feeling like the enemy is winning sometimes or that things will never change? Again, let me testify about the power behind corporate worship & prayer… when everyone is pressing in and believing on God and placing all of their FAITH upon Him…it is an amazing atmosphere to be in!

What is God looking for?

He is looking for FAITH!

Hebrews 11:6 says: And without FAITH it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

He is a good good Father and He wants to give good gifts to His children. So remember – Keep believing and place your FAITH in the FAITH GIVER! All glory to God!

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1

The Invitation

What will be our response?

the_invitation

God is so kind! He wants us with Him where He is – even in the here and now. He is extending an invitation to us all. An invitation for encounter and an invitation for partnership. He has been so faithful to call forth, plant, and sustain a treasure right here among us in our city and region.

The CALL is going forth – What will be our response?

You may ask yourself – what is the reason and the purpose behind a House of Prayer?

You may ask yourself – Why? Why have a House of Prayer?

The VISION & CALLING is to be a Prayer Center where multiple congregations ~ the Church of the City ~ can work together, engaging the heart of God through ministry to Him, to change the spiritual atmosphere of our city and surrounding area. This is a mandate from the Holy Spirit that will require the whole Body of Christ in an area coming together for one purpose. The House of Prayer is –

  • A Place of encounter & intimacy with Jesus
  • A Place of Unity for the Body of Christ and Kingdom Building
  • A Place of Intercession for spiritual awakening and the things on God’s heart
  • A Place for Missions, Outreach, Training & Equipping for all ages

In Matthew 22:36-39 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the FIRST and GREATEST commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

This scripture is God’s definition as to what must be first place in our hearts.

The House of Prayer is a central location for the Body of Christ in an area to come together in unity and to first minister to God by loving Jesus. Jesus tells us – that we must love Him first, and then be sent out to do the second commandment – which is to love others.

Both are important and all the law rest upon these 2 commandments. But, we must be very careful to not place the second commandment before the first. Many times, we get them in the wrong order. It is not an option. It is God’s commandment. We must do the First Commandment first – which is to actively love God with all that we are and then to do the Second Commandment which is the Great Commission – to GO and love others and make disciples.

“Yes, worship of the loving God is man’s whole reason for existence.” ~ A.W. Tozer

a-onething

This is the #1 reason for the House of Prayer!

“One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple.” Psalm 27:4

This statement from King David still stands as being utterly amazing, considering all that he had access to in his life. At the time of his reign over Israel, he was possibly the most powerful man on the earth, but all of the palaces, horses, wives, and riches paled in comparison to his fascination with the one true God. Dwelling in God’s house, gazing upon God’s beauty, and seeking after Him was the most important calling of David’s life.

Wow! No wonder God called him a “man after My own heart!”

The House of Prayer must also be a place to come together in UNITY as God’s people for Kingdom building and to Intercede, Pray, Contend, and Cry Out for the things upon God’s heart.

Spiritual Awakening is the only thing that will bring salvation, revival, and transformation to our nation, our cities, our churches, our families, and our own hearts.

God reminds us all through His word to pray with persistence and to not give up. 2 Chronicles 7:14-16; Luke 18:1-8; Joel 2:12-19; 1 John 5:14-15; Ephesians 6:18; James 5:13-16; Psalm 141:1-2; Romans 12:12; Psalm 145:18; Matthew 7:7-8; Luke 6:12; Philippians 4:6; Colossians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Timothy 2:1-2; 1 Timothy 2:8

“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.” ~ Oswald Chambers.

“There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.” ~ A.T. Pierson

“To make intercession for men is the most powerful and practical way in which we can express our love for them.” ~ John Calvin

The House of Prayer in a city or region should be a shining lighthouse planted and sustained by the work of the Holy Spirit. Loving Jesus and ministering to His heart through worship and intercession should be first place and then the people of God are fueled and ready to be sent out as salt and light to the people of their community.

“Set a fire down in my soul that I can’t contain and I can’t control. I want more of You God. I want more of You God.” ~ Will Reagan

“Affection-based obedience is obedience that flows from experiencing Jesus’ affection for us and giving it back to Him. It is the strongest, deepest, and most consistent obedience. Why? Because a lovesick person will endure anything for love. A lover will always outwork a worker. When a worker becomes a lover, their paradigm about the work changes greatly.” ~ Mike Bickle

awaken-2

All of us who are part of The Church, The Bride, The Body – We must awaken!

Our culture is changing rapidly all around us and “business as usual” in the church is no longer working. Desperate times call for desperate responses. The Holy Spirit is moving all across the earth and encountering the Body of Christ in every nation for such a time as this and the call to prayer is being trumpeted like never before. 24/7 Prayer Rooms and prayer ministries are rising up all across the globe and this is a mandate that no one church can do alone. We know what God’s prescription is and His invitation is calling our names. It will take the unified efforts of the whole Body of Christ in an area to worship Jesus non-stop – like He is worshiped around His throne and to contend for the next Great Awakening.

“When Daniel knew it was time for the shifting of empires, he doesn’t leave it up to the sovereignty of God to get the job done. He sets himself to fasting and prayer and archangels move to the old man’s prayers. The scriptures say, that God does nothing unless He first reveals it to His servants the prophets. Why? So they can intercede on earth as He is interceding in heaven to bring it forth. Revelation demands participation!” ~ Lou Engle

The House of Prayer is not something new. It has always been in the heart of God from the very beginning. It was not man’s idea. It was God’s plan all along.

God said in Isaiah 56:7 – “These I will bring to My holy mountain and give them joy in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Jesus is worthy!

God is calling us!

And the Holy Spirit is inviting us to partner with Him for such a time as this!

The INVITATION is for now!

Our response must be a unified YES!
