Do you need FAITH? ~ I’ve Got A Testimony

I know that so many of us have prayer concerns and desperate situations that we need God to break in on. He alone is the One that does the impossible! I love the parable of the persistent widow in Luke 18: 1-8. In verses 7-8 it says:

And will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to Him day and night? Will He keep putting them off? I tell you, He will see that they get justice, and quickly…”

“Justice” – To make the wrong things right, or I like to think about it as — To take back what the enemy has stolen. This past Tuesday night at the House of Prayer we prayed for Salvation, Unity, and Revival – and my testimony is WOW! During the time of worship and prayer and even after – I came away with my FAITH soaring and believing that God is so good and that He can do what no one else can do!

faith

The rest of verse 8 says:  “However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find FAITH on the earth?”

Do you need a FAITH builder? Are you feeling like the enemy is winning sometimes or that things will never change? Again, let me testify about the power behind corporate worship & prayer… when everyone is pressing in and believing on God and placing all of their FAITH upon Him…it is an amazing atmosphere to be in!

What is God looking for?

He is looking for FAITH!

Hebrews 11:6 says: And without FAITH it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

He is a good good Father and He wants to give good gifts to His children. So remember – Keep believing and place your FAITH in the FAITH GIVER! All glory to God!

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1

The Invitation

What will be our response?

the_invitation

God is so kind! He wants us with Him where He is – even in the here and now. He is extending an invitation to us all. An invitation for encounter and an invitation for partnership. He has been so faithful to call forth, plant, and sustain a treasure right here among us in our city and region.

The CALL is going forth – What will be our response?

You may ask yourself – what is the reason and the purpose behind a House of Prayer?

You may ask yourself – Why? Why have a House of Prayer?

The VISION & CALLING is to be a Prayer Center where multiple congregations ~ the Church of the City ~ can work together, engaging the heart of God through ministry to Him, to change the spiritual atmosphere of our city and surrounding area. This is a mandate from the Holy Spirit that will require the whole Body of Christ in an area coming together for one purpose. The House of Prayer is –

  • A Place of encounter & intimacy with Jesus
  • A Place of Unity for the Body of Christ and Kingdom Building
  • A Place of Intercession for spiritual awakening and the things on God’s heart
  • A Place for Missions, Outreach, Training & Equipping for all ages

In Matthew 22:36-39 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the FIRST and GREATEST commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

This scripture is God’s definition as to what must be first place in our hearts.

The House of Prayer is a central location for the Body of Christ in an area to come together in unity and to first minister to God by loving Jesus. Jesus tells us – that we must love Him first, and then be sent out to do the second commandment – which is to love others.

Both are important and all the law rest upon these 2 commandments. But, we must be very careful to not place the second commandment before the first. Many times, we get them in the wrong order. It is not an option. It is God’s commandment. We must do the First Commandment first – which is to actively love God with all that we are and then to do the Second Commandment which is the Great Commission – to GO and love others and make disciples.

“Yes, worship of the loving God is man’s whole reason for existence.” ~ A.W. Tozer

a-onething

This is the #1 reason for the House of Prayer!

“One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek Him in His temple.” Psalm 27:4

This statement from King David still stands as being utterly amazing, considering all that he had access to in his life. At the time of his reign over Israel, he was possibly the most powerful man on the earth, but all of the palaces, horses, wives, and riches paled in comparison to his fascination with the one true God. Dwelling in God’s house, gazing upon God’s beauty, and seeking after Him was the most important calling of David’s life.

Wow! No wonder God called him a “man after My own heart!”

The House of Prayer must also be a place to come together in UNITY as God’s people for Kingdom building and to Intercede, Pray, Contend, and Cry Out for the things upon God’s heart.

Spiritual Awakening is the only thing that will bring salvation, revival, and transformation to our nation, our cities, our churches, our families, and our own hearts.

God reminds us all through His word to pray with persistence and to not give up. 2 Chronicles 7:14-16; Luke 18:1-8; Joel 2:12-19; 1 John 5:14-15; Ephesians 6:18; James 5:13-16; Psalm 141:1-2; Romans 12:12; Psalm 145:18; Matthew 7:7-8; Luke 6:12; Philippians 4:6; Colossians 4:2; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Timothy 2:1-2; 1 Timothy 2:8

“Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.” ~ Oswald Chambers.

“There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin in united prayer.” ~ A.T. Pierson

“To make intercession for men is the most powerful and practical way in which we can express our love for them.” ~ John Calvin

The House of Prayer in a city or region should be a shining lighthouse planted and sustained by the work of the Holy Spirit. Loving Jesus and ministering to His heart through worship and intercession should be first place and then the people of God are fueled and ready to be sent out as salt and light to the people of their community.

“Set a fire down in my soul that I can’t contain and I can’t control. I want more of You God. I want more of You God.” ~ Will Reagan

“Affection-based obedience is obedience that flows from experiencing Jesus’ affection for us and giving it back to Him. It is the strongest, deepest, and most consistent obedience. Why? Because a lovesick person will endure anything for love. A lover will always outwork a worker. When a worker becomes a lover, their paradigm about the work changes greatly.” ~ Mike Bickle

awaken-2

All of us who are part of The Church, The Bride, The Body – We must awaken!

Our culture is changing rapidly all around us and “business as usual” in the church is no longer working. Desperate times call for desperate responses. The Holy Spirit is moving all across the earth and encountering the Body of Christ in every nation for such a time as this and the call to prayer is being trumpeted like never before. 24/7 Prayer Rooms and prayer ministries are rising up all across the globe and this is a mandate that no one church can do alone. We know what God’s prescription is and His invitation is calling our names. It will take the unified efforts of the whole Body of Christ in an area to worship Jesus non-stop – like He is worshiped around His throne and to contend for the next Great Awakening.

“When Daniel knew it was time for the shifting of empires, he doesn’t leave it up to the sovereignty of God to get the job done. He sets himself to fasting and prayer and archangels move to the old man’s prayers. The scriptures say, that God does nothing unless He first reveals it to His servants the prophets. Why? So they can intercede on earth as He is interceding in heaven to bring it forth. Revelation demands participation!” ~ Lou Engle

The House of Prayer is not something new. It has always been in the heart of God from the very beginning. It was not man’s idea. It was God’s plan all along.

God said in Isaiah 56:7 – “These I will bring to My holy mountain and give them joy in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Jesus is worthy!

God is calling us!

And the Holy Spirit is inviting us to partner with Him for such a time as this!

The INVITATION is for now!

Our response must be a unified YES!

Connecting the Dots….

My mind sometimes takes me to strange places. And sometimes, it can be scary there : ) But sometimes, I find treasure there, like the proverbial pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Bear with me here…..

Driving to the airport to pick up Husband, I began to think about the recent, tragic air disaster in the French Alps….. Thinking about pilots, wondering….are they assigned certain routes and that’s the only ones they fly, or are the assignments random….what is it like to literally hold the lives of hundreds in your hands at the controls of an airliner….do pilots reach a level of complacency like when I’m driving from Kirbyville to Beaumont, and suddenly I’m in Evadale with no memory of the trip or is it like the profession of law enforcement where you realize that any outing or shift could be your last….what is it like to deal with that as part of your job…..but, you know, any of us could take our last breath at any time….the driver in that car could cross the center line….that light pole or tree could fall just as I’m passing it…. even a piece of space junk could hurtle out of the sky and crush my vehicle….that kind of thinking could literally make a person fear to face life….

Strange rabbit trails of my mind, but at the end, my conclusion, my treasure, if you will, is this: rather than live your life in FEAR that the terrible, the tragic COULD happen, live your life PREPARED that it MAY happen. Are any of us exempt from the distracted driver, the unexpected disease or even the space junk that falls out of the sky? Our little community has sadly seen recently that the answer is: no. We are still reeling at the shocking, unexpected loss of a loved one, seemingly before his time, at the news of children and young adults facing the battle of cancer. Doesn’t God cause the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and the rain to fall on the just and the unjust? To me, the question is not, “Why do bad things happen to good people?”, but “How will you respond when they do?”

So, how DO you live your life, prepared? Simple. The Hebrew word for safety is yasha, the root of the name of Yeshua ~ “he will save”. Put the whole of your life in Jesus, our Messiah, the only place to live a prepared life. How WILL you respond when the unknown, the tragic, the evil comes on you? When Job was at the lowest point of his life, his children dead, his health destroyed, Job’s wife told him to curse God and die. Yet Job’s response was, “How can I accept good from God, but not adversity?” Just as He formed us in our mother’s womb to be born into this world, He is forming us in this life, as we submit to Him, preparing us for the life to come. God ~ the ultimate prepper : ) If only we had eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit is saying!

Jesus ~ our safety, our salvation, our deliverance, our rescue!

Me?!? An Intercessor?!?

How does one be a Christian for 35 years and not understand intercession and what it is to be an intercessor? Raised in a Baptist church, faithful and active as a child and teen in youth group; attending summer camps and Vacation Bible Schools year after year; serving as a young adult as Sunday School teacher, children and youth choir director, Vacation Bible School director, mission trips, etc. etc. etc. Faithful attender and participant in weekly prayer meetings, cottage prayer meetings, whatever kind of prayer meeting was on the calendar, I knew all the acronyms: A. C. T. S., P. R. A. Y., F. A. C. T. S., P. R. A. I. S. E., and kept up an ongoing dialogue with God, yet still knew something was lacking in my prayer life.

Then, in December 2007, I encountered the LORD in a new (to me) way, in Intercessory Worship. Somehow, the combining of worship WITH intercession and intercession WITH worship unlocked my understanding. The prayer format is based on the heavenly picture that we see in Revelation 5, which speaks of the harp and the bowl—worship and prayer. After being a Christian for 35 years and always seeking a deeper walk with God, it was like night and day. The Holy Spirit impacted my heart and placed a calling on my life. I wish I could put into words how it has deepened my relationship with God.

I have a testimony about Jesus!

He is the faithful God. So glad He is the patient God, too! It took me almost 5 years to hear and understand, and then accept the assignment of what He was calling me to do. But, He is worthy of it all. Even when I don’t feel equipped and capable of doing what He has called me to, it’s not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord.

“Great is Your faithfulness!” Lamentations 3:23
